Hands On Our Park website (unofficial) - So, just where is the boundary of Telford Town Park?

The council got its knickers in a twist because ...

Well, that wouldn't do at all.

The 'Friends of the Town Park' - a 'consultation group' set up by the council some two or three years ago (it's not clear) in order to 'draw down funding' (BTW) - said they had been asking the council for years to tell them where the boundary was, with no success.

So HOOP devised a cunning plan.

First they looked at leaflets produced by the council - yes, the boundary was marked.

Then they looked at the council management plan, produced in 2003 - there was a map, with a nice, clear boundary.

And - they were the same!

Just to be sure, they went along to the Land Registry. Lo and behold, the official map, showing the official boundary, was available for the princely sum of £4. HOOP dipped into its funds and the mystery was solved.

However, the council were still confused. So confused that they decided to establish the boundaries once and for all at a Cabinet Meeting in March 2006.

They had been telling the public in the few weeks before that no, they were not going to take any land out of the Town Park - in fact, as reported in the Shropshire Star, they were going to make it bigger!
