Hands On Our Park website (unofficial): Ugly Stuff!

There's no excuse for the kind of neglect we see in the park now - click the pictures on the right to see the problems in all their gory details!

We have ugly, broken signs. The one on the right informs you that you can walk to Stafford Park. It does not give any further clue as to how.

We have neglected paths.

We have the area around Stirchley Chimney which is surrounded by grim fencing. There are some safety concerns about the Furnace Bank, but that could easily be separately fenced.

The area by the Hinkshay Pools car park is regularly fly-tipped and very rarely cleaned up.

The area between Hinkshay road and Paddock Mount is disgracefully neglected - this should not be a reason to get rid of it, much less build on it!

Stirchley Grange - fenced off and falling into dereliction. This was a superb resource but apparently there was no money to keep it going. We do question where the funds are going to come from for ongoing maintenance of the planned 'new facilities'

The wooded area between Silkin Way and Hinkshay Road, by Hinkshay Pools - there are trees fallen across the paths, sections of the paths are totally waterlogged and steps have collapsed.

Apparently the environmental education centre is to be located here, in the middle of what is currently dense woodland.

Why not take a stroll through the park yourself with a camera and point out the work that needs doing, and would not cost a fortune - to us or to your local councillor?
