Dear Rob
I am writing on behalf of the Scrutiny Management Board. As you are aware, the members of the Scrutiny Management Board have been looking in detail at the strategic framework for the development of the Town Park and will continue to scrutinise the more detailed plans as they are developed.
I would like to invite you to tell me your specific concerns about the council's plans for the Town Park so that we can investigate them. Please be concise and to the point (I would appreciate no more than 2 sides of A4). Due to the holiday period, I'm offering you 6 weeks until 25th August 2006 to reply and would also like to post this letter on the 'Hands on Our Park' website to allow anyone who wishes to take the same opportunity to pass their specific concerns to us.
We will consider the views sent to us alongside other information that we are gathering and use it as a basis for questioning Council officers. I have to advise you that scrutiny's job is to investigate issues and make recommendations to the Council's cabinet. We have no decision making powers and rely on the Cabinet considering the evidence that we put before them. We do, however, promise you a fair non-politcial look at your concerns.
